Philippines will not host the Miss Universe 2017 pageant

Miss Universe 2017 pageant will not be held in the Philippines. Yes, the announcement was made by Wanda Teo, the Tourism Secretary, during the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism for Development. Tourism chief said, “No Miss Universe this year. Baka next year.”

However, Teo also added that the hosting might take place next year, but there is no confirmation as of now. As per the previous reports, the Miss Universe Organisation made an offer to Philippines to host the pageant this year because of the way the contestants were treated and accommodated last year.

The report did not reveal any further details as to why the Miss Universe pageant will not be taking place in the Philippines. As per the reports, if no country comes forward to bid the hosting of the Miss Universe pageant then it will most probably take place in Las Vegas. There has been no official announcement by the Miss Universe Organisation regarding the host city for the pageant this year.

The reigning Miss Universe is Iris Mittenaere of France. Iris was crowned as Miss Universe 2016 on 30th January 2017, when the pageant was held in the Philippines.  Miss Universe in an annual international beauty pageant, It is part of the prestigious Big Four pageants along with the Miss World, Miss Earth and Miss International. The pageant is run by the Miss Universe Organisation. The pageant was founded in the year 1952; it started as a local "bathing beauty" competition organized by Catalina Swimwear in Long Beach, California.
