Miss Universe 2018 kickstarts with Official Press Conference

Miss Universe 2018 held their Press Conference yesterday on 29th October 2018 at the Napalai Ballroom, Dusit Thani, Bangkok, Thailand. It was a very grand affair that kickstarted the chain of events that will lead to the finale and the crowning of the new Miss Universe.

Miss Universe 2018, this year, will be held on 17th December 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand, where at the conclusion of the event, Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters will be crowning her successor and the new international queen.

The event started with the host, Piyawat Kempetch, who welcomed everyone to the Press Conference, talked about the prestigious history of Miss Universe and how honoured the country was to be hosting the most viewed beauty pageant for the third time. He then went on to invite the president of Miss Universe Organization, Paula Merry Shugart, on to the stage.

Paula was a very positive entity on the stage, started by greeting everyone. She then went on to address the audience saying how happy she was to be in the Dusit Thani where all the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand had taken place. Paula praised all the contestants who have worked so hard for the finale and announced that there will be a record number of 95 delegates from all over the world competing for the crown this year.

Paula announced that Steve Harvey will be hosting in the finale and he has already started promoting the event. She then joked added that time he will surely crown the correct winner. Paula revealed that Ashley Graham will be co-hosting the event and Carson Kressley will also be present during the finale.

The host then welcomed Somchai Cheewasuthanon, CEO of TPN 2018 Company Limited. Somchai talked about the schedule of events leading up to the coronation night through a presentation that he had prepared. The host then welcomed Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters on to the stage.

Demi’s entry on the stage was a very colourful and grand event with amazing sound and light effects, and an array of background dancers presenting a perfectly choreographed set. She then greeted the audience with her signature walk. Demi and Piyawat engaged in a wonderful conversation about Thailand, its cuisine and its history with the Miss Universe Organization and proceeded to get her photographs clicked.

After a break, the organizing members went on to answer the queries of the press in a very detailed fashion. This was followed by a one-on-one interview of the press with Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. She answered questions about how she is promoting Thailand through her social media, by sharing her experiences with her followers. Demi was then asked what she would tell all the beautiful ladies competing for the crown, to which she answered that if one knows how to accept oneself then no one can fault you. Demi then told the media that after the coronation night on 17th December 2018, she plans to give time to her family as she has missed them over the year. In an ending note, Demi added that even though she will be crowning her successor soon, it will not end her journey as Miss Universe.

And with that the Press Conference concluded and left the viewers excited for the events to come, ending with the crowning of a new international queen – Miss Universe 2018.
