The Miss Universe organization, through the official press release, announced on Tuesday, 20th September 2022 that the upcoming Miss Universe edition of 2022 will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana. The pageant will be held early next year, instead of the usual December pageant, on 14th January 2023. 

The current Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu from India will be crowning her successor at the end of the event finale. Through the press release, she quoted, “My time as Miss Universe has been an incredible experience and I am so grateful for all the opportunities I have received as a result of this platform.”

“I’m very excited that I will be crowning the next titleholder in New Orleans and that she will kick off her reign in such an exciting and special city known for its resiliency, music, and grand celebrations”, she added. The other details of the pageant, such as the host and the official schedule is yet to be announced.

Miss Universe 2022 will be the 71st edition of the international pageant. In another turn of events, the 72nd edition which will take place in 2023, will also allow moms and wives to compete in the pageant as long as they’re aged between 18 and 28.
