At the conclusion of the splendid finale of Miss Universe Bahamas 2016 held on 17th September 2016 Cherell Williamson of Nassau was crowned as the winner. Cherell succeeds Miss Universe Bahamas 2015 Toria Nichole Penn, and will now represent Bahamas at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant. Before the gala finale, Cherell shared the following message with her fans on Facebook...

“Today is the day that I've been waiting for! Today marks the date of a stronger more confident Cherell that has learned more things about herself than she ever thought this pageant would allow all thanks to the amazing organization, @missuniverseba we are truly a family now. I was given the opportunity to discover my true supporters and the fact that people want to see me exceed is heart warming. Thank you so much ?. The words of encouragement has kept me pushing straight up until now and of course a big thank you to my #1 supporters The Island Game!"

Cherell is an entrepreneur and is a make-up artist, face painter and jewellery designer. Cherell followed her passion for mae-up and opened her first business MaskAra as she pursued further training at a cosmetic school in Florida. "My experience in modeling has better equipped me with the necessary stage presence needed for this pageant," said Cherell during one of her interviews."...while the Miss Universe Bahamas organization encourages bringing forth my inner beauty. The two hand in hand is definitely a powerful combination something that assists in helping me to stand out when surrounded by the other beautiful contestants."

Cherell is a professional model and has walked the runway of many local and international stages. Her modelling experience will definitely add on to her qualities while competing at the Miss World 2016 pageant. At the coronation of Miss Universe Bahamas 2016, Chivvaun Smith was adjudged first runner-up, Erika Adderley was titled second runner-up and Rokara Hepburn and Crystal Stubbs made it to the Top 5 finalists list.
