Miss Universe Canada 2018 event finale is scheduled to be held on 18th August 2018 at The George Weston Recital Hall – Toronto Centre For The Arts, Toronto. At the conclusion of the finale the reigning Miss Universe Canada 2017 Lauren Howe will crown her successor who will then represent Canada in Miss Universe 2018 on 16th December 2018, in Thailand.

But before the finale, in a series of features, we present to you Angelopedia’s favourite contestants who are competing for the crown. Meet 23-year-old Keyla Letanno representing Brampton, Ontario, who is contestant number five in the top 20 favourite contestants by Angelopedia, competing for the national title.

Originally from Venezuela, Keyla is a 23-year-old woman who is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian. She was raised by her Venezuelan mother and Canadian father. At the age of 20, in light of the difficult political and economic climate of her home country, Keyla made a bold decision to move to Canada in search of a better life.

Keyla is a very happy, positive and outgoing young woman who enjoys helping others. Although she had to leave her family and friends behind, she is grateful that Canada has opened its doors for her, and shown her its beauty and possibilities.

She believes humility is the best and most important quality a person can have, because anyone can need a helping hand at any time in life. In Venezuela, Keyla enjoyed singing, acting and modeling; she also taught younger girls how to runway model.

She has recently opened her own business as an aesthetician in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She believes her work is the best way of demonstrating her passion of helping others and feel good about themselves.

Every day, Keyla demonstrates that hard work, discipline and a good attitude can help anyone achieve their goals. Keyla values courage most of all, and is open to being vulnerable and taking risks. For her, this is the best way a person can open doors for life’s wonderful surprises. She is excited to participate in Miss Universe Canada, mostly because it will allow her to encourage other young men and women to embrace courage and follow their dreams.
