Miss Universe Finland 2020 Viivi Altonen revealed her national costume for Miss Universe 2020 through a social media post a few hours ago. The national costume is designed by the master minds Tobias Tommila and Katrin Oro. The national costume represents the phenomenal development that Finland has gone through within the last century - from a rural society to a global leader in many fields.
Finland is a country with magical northern lights, the breathtaking nature as a source of inspiration and strength. A scintillating wit, enabling a mindset that led to a leading role globally in areas like technology, social equality, welfare, education, architecture, innovation and last but not least in happiness! In Finland, nature's most spectacular light show, the Aurora Borealis, can be viewed in a range of purpose-built spaces from glass igloos to luxury suites. The Northern Lights are visible on roughly 200 nights a year – or every other clear night – in Finnish Lapland. The costume is illuminated with LEDs and shines bright like the magical colors of the northern lights also known as the aurora lights. The preparations for this dress took almost 8 months.
Viivi stands 175 cm tall and is currently a model with BIBA model management in Zurich. Viivi also considers herself as a dive master as she had over 100 logged scuba dives. This fitness lover in her free time goes for running in the forest and to the gym.
A genuine, humble, outgoing and an optimistic person, Viivi loves to study in different cultures and countries. She believes in beauty, brain and health being coexistent in the world and wants the world to believe in that too. Viivi is also a fluent speaker of Finnish, English, Swedish and German which shows her vivid knowledge of various cultures and traditions.
Miss Universe 2020 will host the National Costume competition on 13th May 2021 with a live broadcast. Miss Universe Finland 2020 Viivi Altonen will represent Finland at the 69th edition of Miss Universe on 16th May 2021 in the United States. The winner will succeed Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa for the title.
