Amy Emmerich steps down as CEO of Miss Universe Organization

Amy Emmerich, through her official social media, announced her decision to step down as the CEO of Miss Universe organization. For the next few months, she will take on an advisory role before someone else is appointed to take her position.

Her official announcement, through the LinkedIn account, quoted, “This was an incredible experience, and I’m so proud of this team's accomplishments during my tenure. We created new business lines, grew revenue, managed through two acquisitions, created a digital-first organization, and reshaped this iconic brand for a new era – a program that advocates for a future forged by women.”

“Over the past two years, we’ve seen incredible growth, not only in our numbers but in the attributes that really matter to women worldwide. We saw our first moms compete and make it to the finals,” Emmerich said. “Our first married women, our first plus-size delegate, our first trans woman to make it to the top 20 and already for 2024 women of all ages are competing at national levels. Not only have we left the business in a stronger place, but we’ve left the program with the kind of goodwill and modern outlook that can transition to the next generation of fans”, she added.

Amy was hired by the MUO in January in 2022 as she joined the then-president Paula Shugart. After Shugart announced her departure from MUO in November last year, this comes as another blow for Miss Universe. However, Amy did serve with strong guidance to all the delegates who joined Miss Universe to make an impact.
