Matilde Lima was crowned Miss Universe Portugal 2017 at the grand finale held on 2nd September 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal. She will now represent Portugal in the 66th edition of Miss Universe pageant to be held later in this year. Matilde, who hails from Setúbal is 18 years of age and stands tall at 177cm. She succeeds Flávia Joana Brito, the Miss Universe Portugal 2016.
At the same event, Bruna Monteiro was adjudged the first runner-up and Silvia Moura finished as the second runner-up.
The grand finale was a splendid event graced by the presence of Miss Universe Portugal 2014 Patricia da Silva and the Miss Universe Portugal 2015 Emilia Araújo.
So far, no Portuguese beauty queen has ever managed to win the Miss Universe crown for Portugal, it would be interesting to watch if Matilde Lima becomes the first beauty queen from Portugal to win the Miss Universe title.
