At the finale of the Miss Universe Romania pageant held last night, Ioana Mihalache was crowned as Miss Universe Romania 2017 after defeating 23 other contestants competing for the title and will now represent Romania in Miss Universe 2017 international pageant to be held this month in Las Vegas, USA. She succeeds Teodara Dan, Miss Universe Romania 2016.

Ioana, who is 26 years of age, is not new to the world of pageantry. She earlier competed in Miss Universe Romania 2012, where she was declared the first runner-up. She then went on to represent Romania in Miss Earth 2013. Last year, she also represented Romania in Miss Grand International 2016.
