At the conclusion of the grand finale of Miss Universe Slovenia 2017 (Miss Universe Slovenija 2017) held on 7th October 2017 at the Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Emina Ekic was crowned as Miss Universe Slovenia 2017. She will now represent Slovenia in Miss Universe 2017 scheduled to be held on 26th November 2017 in Las Vegas, USA.

She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Universe Slovenia 2016 Lucija Potocnik and defeated eleven other finalists to clinch the coveted crown of Miss Universe Slovenia 2017. At the same event, Ariela Mandela (22) and Celjanki Vanessi Preložnik (19) were declared as the first runner-up and the second runner-up respectively.

Emina is 22 years of age and stands tall at a towering height of 177 cm. She hails from Ptuj and currently stays in Australia. In her spare time, she likes to play basketball, read books, and go for walks. She entered into the world of pageants not only because she loves fashion, but also because she wanted to try new things and meet new people.

She decided to move to Australia when she was 16 because she wanted a better future for herself. She completed her graduation in tourism from the University of Melbourne. She travelled the world and visited a number of locations, and she was also granted Australian citizenship.

“But after six years of living in Australia I decided to move back to Slovenia because the country is so beautiful and the people are nicer than anywhere else in the world," Emina later said.

After winning the title, Emina expressed her gratitude on her Facebook official page by saying, "I can’t believe I’m the new Miss Universe Slovenia. It’s unreal, but the feeling is great! I’d like to thank everyone who cheered for me. Thank you for your support, and I wish all the other girls the best of luck. We’ve worked really hard, but it was worth it. I’m so incredibly grateful”.
