08 Mar 2018 | Irina Silva

Chinese Media is whispering about the Miss World 2018 competition likely happening in China again in 2018 and if this rumour is to be true then it would be 9th time that this international event will be hosted by the People's Republic of China.

The pageant will be again hosted by the New Silk Road Group in China. Julia Morley, CEO of the Miss World Organisation, signed an agreement in Shenzhen last week with the President of the New Silk Group, David Li (Jia Ye). In the same meeting, Morley also signed a contract with the NSR Group to authorize them to be the official franchise holders of Miss World China from 2018 - 2020.

China to host Miss World 2018?

Founded in 1989, the New Silk Road Fashion Organization is a professional model management enterprise in China.

With Miss World 2017 happening in China last year where Manushi Chhillar from India won the coveted title, the pageant organizers seem to love the country’s warm hospitality and warmth the people offer. Last year, Sanya city hosted the competition. This year though the same information is not yet out.

Earlier, the competition took place in China in the years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2015, and 2017. Out of these years, China has won 2 times in their home country, interestingly; these are the only two times China has ever won Miss World titles, being in 2007 and 2012.
