25 Oct 2021 | Camilla Suarez

The Miss France organization elected Miss Provence 2020 and first runner-up of Miss France 2021, April Benayoum to represent France at the upcoming edition of the Miss World competition. The decision came through as Miss France 2021 Amandine Petit has already participated in the recently held Miss Universe 2021 pagaent. The announcement was made by Sylvie Tellier, director of Miss France Organization, during the Miss Côte d'Azur pageant.

22 years-old April hails from Aix-en-Provence, in the Bouches-du-Rhône. She is pursued business studies and graduated with a BTS in International Business and bachelors in Marketing. She expressed her emotions as she mentioned, “I can’t wait, I’m so excited!”

In December 2020, during her participation in the Miss France election, April Benayoum caused a sensation on stage. However, she had been the victim of anti-Semitic remarks after revealing her origins, mother being Serbo-Croatian and father Israeli-Italian. Faced with so much hatred and after receiving death threats, the diva decided to file a complaint. “I accept the apologies on the other hand forgiving will be more difficult, it is something that marked me a lot and which spoiled an exceptional adventure.” said the then Miss Provence 2020 during this trial.

Coming out strong through this intense and overwhelming journey last year, she is now all set to represent her country at one of the biggest beauty pageants in the world. She will succeed Miss World France 2019 Ophély Mézino, who was adjudged as the first runner-up at Miss World 2019.

April will now begin her preparations with just a month left for her to head to the international competition. Miss World 2021 will be the 70th edition of the Miss World pageant to be held on December 16, 2021 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Congratulations queen!
