Miss World Alumni Halle Berry and Michelle Yeoh make pageantry proud with historic wins

18 Mar 2023 | Priya Bhardwaj

Miss World Alumni Halle Berry was one of two presenters at the 2023 Oscars to present ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ star Michelle Yeoh with her historic best actress award. However, there is much more common between the two global icons than just sharing the stage at the historic moment.

Yeoh became the first Asian woman to win the best actress Oscar and only the second woman of color to take home that award. Incidentally, Berry was the first actress of color and first Black woman to win in the category more than 20 years ago. Both the stunners are also Miss World Alumni, who have made the whole pageantry proud.

Yeoh and Berry also have another career feat in common – they’ve both been ‘Bond girls’ in Pierce Brosnan Bond films.  Yeoh’s Bond girl moment was as Wai Lin in the 1997 film Tomorrow Never Dies, while Berry featured as Jinx Johnson in Die Another Day in 2002.

Halle Berry finished as the first runner-up in the Miss USA and came in sixth in the Miss World 1986 while Michelle Yeoh represented Malaysia at Miss World 1983 in London and placed in the Top 18. Both the ladies have seen tremendous success since and only have a long way to go.
