Catriona, who finished in the Top 5, in an Instagram post on Wednesday assured her supporters that she is doing fine even though she didn’t bag the crown. She shared that she believes God has some bigger plans for her. She wrote, “The question most of you are asking is if I’m okay and I can securely say that I am. Miss World was never just a beauty contest to me.”

She further added, “The crown represented a journey, one that grew from being an independent endeavor to one that became more than me. A journey that rallied the support of my countrymen. A journey that forced me to look into myself and discover what I was made of. A journey that found its heart in the children in one of the poorest slums in my country. Yes, the crown represented a journey… until I realized that the journey could continue and exist without it. I truly believe that God always knows what’s best and I trust in his plan and perfect timing.”

The Pinoy beauty also shared that for her what is more important is that her “Beauty with a Purpose project” made it to the Top 5 at this year’s pageant. “One of the happiest moments was when the Top 5 of Beauty with a Purpose was announced, meaning that MWO (Miss World Organization) would visit and support the advocacies and the Philippines was called,” she wrote. “I was a mess of emotion because being able to have the work that Young Focus in Manila is doing acknowledged was so gratifying.

The beauty didn’t shy away from thanking all her fans and supporters once again for showing their faith in her and for supporting her throughout her journey. “Where will my journey take me next? That’s yet to be discovered but I am honored to have been able to represent my country on the world stage, to capture hearts all around the world and to make you all proud,” she wrote. “Keep your torches burning. Mine is burning stronger than ever.”

Miss World 2013 Megan Young, who was also the co-host during the Miss World 2016 finals, is all praises for Catriona and showed her support in an Instagram post on Thursday. “It is only [the] beginning of great things for this lady, I believe. A bump in the road only makes you stronger,” Young wrote as a caption to a photo showing her with Gray. She went on to note that Gray “represented our country with pride and grace. As a Filipino and a Miss World sister, I am so proud of her achievements,” she wrote. “Let us show support to Cat, especially by helping out with her Beauty with a Purpose project.”
