Philippines’ Queens once again delivers phenomenally in Beauty Pageants in 2017

08 Jan 2018 | Srishti Jain

If we call 2017 the year of Philippines in beauty pageants, we are not wrong. While the expectations were high from the country’s beauties, they stood up to the challenge and brought immense glory to the Philippines.

This country has gained has gained so much adoration for beauty pageants in such short span of time and has become the hub of pageantry lovers. From the time that year’s Binibining Pilipinas contest starts to the time the winners are representing their country, and even after that, it seems like the natives are celebrating some festival as a lot of zeal and enthusiasm can be seen throughout. So, it’s natural that the natives of Philippines want their representatives to win and it’s a great feeling when the victory comes.

2017 was no different as the queens of Philippines battled it out in the international beauty pageants and triumphed. Let’s see the major wins of Philippines in 2017 -

Karen Ibasco Miss Earth 2017

Karen Ibasco was crowned Miss Earth 2017 on 4th November 2017, bringing the glory for the Philippines for the fourth time in Miss Earth international pageant. This physicist/DOST scholar/university instructor/ academic achiever is perhaps the first scientist to win the Miss Earth competition to date. What worked the most for her was her confidence and use of knowledge in the best way to advocate her social causes. Karen has a simplistic beauty that is enhanced by her beautiful mind. Brain and beauty do go hand in hand when it comes to this crowned queen Miss Earth 2017.

It takes quite some time until it fully sinks in. Never in my wildest dreams have I ever thought I would represent the Philippines and win an international title in a prestigious pageant that upholds a relevant cause. I am honored and privileged to be the very first scientist to join and win in the whole history of Miss Earth as I shared my voice and represented the whole scientific community for the world to see and hear. I am confident enough to say that it was not by my own abilities that made me standout in performing during the coronation night in all segments especially in the question and answer portion, it was by the Spirit of God that led me through. Apart from Him I could not have done it. He was the One who gave me confidence and wisdom in presenting myself as a whole package in front of the whole world. It’s never easy to win the crown in your own country because you have to make double even triple efforts to show to everyone that you’re fighting the battle at your best just like everybody else but what made my journey extra special was the overwhelming support I got from my fellow Filipinos. If there’s one thing I am proud about my people despite of being known to be hospitable, it’s our camaraderie. We show to the whole world what bayanihan is all about when the spirit of communal unity and cooperation is displayed for all to see. No amount of words will change the fact that the battle has already been won. I don’t take this crown for myself, It is for the whole Philippines. This battle was not mine alone but ours. I am proud in raising our flag for the whole world to witness. I would like to thank EVERYONE for the love, prayers and support you have given me in my unforgettable journey here in Miss Earth. This once in a lifetime experience will truly be remembered and treasured forever. I am more than ready to continue the legacy of beauty and responsibility. May this be a beacon of hope for everyone to see that our micro efforts will have macro effect as we take this challenge together as a global community with a collective action. This is Karen Ibasco, your Miss Earth 2017!???????? ALL GLORY TO GOD!

Rachel Peters – Top 10 of Miss Universe 2017

Rachel Peters entered the Miss Universe 2017 competition like a storm and became an early favourite for many. Whether we talk about the prelims or the national costume, she was thunderous in her performance throughout. The loudest cheers came for her from the audience when she came on stage on the gala night. She had the personality, looks, and knew how to walk, talk and present herself well. She is a complete package and that’s what got her on the list of Top 10 finalists, with which she made her country proud and happy.

Nelda Ibe – 1st runner-up of Miss Globe 2017

Nelda Ibe continued the winning streak for the Philippines as she was the first runner-up of Miss Globe 2017 held in Albania. This 23-year-old stunner standing tall at 178 cm is someone who is relaxed, laid-back and very beautifully sensible. Nelda has finished her Solo Fly as Captain Cadet Student and she is commonly called ‘Pilot Queen’ and we think this name quiet apt for the lovely queen.
