Sandwich wins at Miss World and Miss Universe

14 Nov 2023 | Camilla Suarez

Held annually, Miss Universe and Miss World are one of the most coveted pageants all around the world. Thousands of aspiring divas participate in their national competitions to win the opportunity to compete at these pageants. While, almost every country has had the chance to take home these crowns atleast once, only a few have won it alternatively, hence being called Sanwich wins. When a country wins the pageant in the first year, does not win it the next year and then again wins it in the third year, it is referred as a sadwich win.

United States of America is the only country to have had this win not just once but twice in its pageant history at Miss Universe. So without further ado, let us take a look at these beautiful divas who have won these titles for their countries.

MISS UNIVERSE

The first ever sandwich victory was witnessed when in 1954, Miriam Stevenson from United States of America won the title of Miss Universe and then in 1956, USA again made a comeback with Carrol Morris winning Miss Universe 1956 title.

MISS WORLD

Miss Universe has managed to see such victories time after time, whereas Miss World is known for only one such triumph in its history of 66 years. India’s Diana Hayden and Yukta Mookhey created history by engraving their country’s name on the title of Miss Universe in the year 1997 and 1999 respectively.
