Aminata Adialin Bangura crowned as Miss Sierra Leone 2016

Aminata Adialin Bangura of Port Loko was crowned Miss Sierra Leone 2016 at the end of the ceremony held on May 21’ 2016 at the Bintumani International Conference Centre.

The beauty queen clinched the crown after defeating 13 other candidates for the right to represent Sierra Leone in Miss World 2016.

At the same event, Esther Williams of Western Area Urban finished first runner-up, while Titty Kumba Kamara of Kono was adjudged second runner-up.

Adonis Abboud, chairman of Miss Sierra Leone Limited, said that Miss Sierra Leone 2016 “would demonstrate to the world that there is more to Sierra Leone than ebola and rebel war.

Miss Sierra Leone was initially registered as a non-profit company in 2011 with the chief objective of organizing a national competition to choose the representative of the country and also to ensure that the country is well represented at the international pageants like Miss World, Miss Universe etc.

Miss Sierra Leone winner is responsible for charitable works and is also liable to serve as a positive role model for young women in the country, inspiring them to become respectable and responsible citizen.

The winner of the very first Miss Sierra Leone competition was crowned in 2012, who died in a tragic incident shortly after being crowned. The controversy surrounding this disastrous incident caused Miss Sierra Leone to put its activities into abeyance.

The current directors of the company are: Dr. Adonis Abound (Chairman), Mr. David Carew, Mrs. Jenneh Amara Bangali, Mrs. Dunni Chaloba, Ms. Shelac Sonny-Davies, Dr. Julius Spencer etc.
