Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016,  Kristhielee Caride was stripped of her crown on Thursday (17’ March 2016) after officials said that she had an attitude problem.

Kristhielee Caride will no longer represent Puerto Rico in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant. Caride won the crown of Miss Puerto Rico 2016 at a ceremony held on November 12’ 2016, in Puerto Rico.

In a recent interview with a popular newspaper, Kristhielee’s attitude was criticized and it was said that her behavior was not very amicable, also she was quoted as saying that she did not love cameras.

The National Director of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Desiree Lowry, was present during that interview.

"I wanted the earth to swallow me," Lowry said. "You always have to put your best face forward... it's a given that we are going to be in front of cameras and that we have to answer all types of questions."

Accroding to Lowry, Caride never apologised for her behaviour and instead told the officials that she was having a personal problem and that the episode would not repeat itself.

In an extended Facebook post on Thursday, Caride said that beauty queens too have their share of bad days and that she was sincerely sorry.

"I allowed my feelings to get in the way of my work," she stated.

Caride further said thst she is not happy with the decision that Lowry and other officials made.

On March 17’ 2016, The Miss Puerto Rico Organisation organized a press conference and made the announcement of the new Miss Puerto Rico, Brenda Jimenez.

"I still haven't fully processed the information," Brenda said.

It is the first time in history that a winner of Miss Puerto Rico has lost her crown before the big event. Miss Puerto Rico 1994, Brenda Robles, was dismissed during that year's Miss Universe contest because she was pregnant.
