Another beauty pageant journey came to an end, but only to mark the beginning of a new era with a new beauty queen, this time from Puerto Rico, again! This is the third time that the country won the title..is it just a coincidence or does Puerto Rico just happens to be the favourite of the Miss Intercontinental judges? Well, this time the ambassador definitely deserved, so no complains here!
Though many lost and some won, the highlight of the pageant was not the winner announcement but the wonderfully held national costume and evening gown round. Both the rounds showcased the gorgeous beauty from all parts of the world. The astonishing dance sequels between groups of contestant did give an opportunity to the judges and the viewers to refresh their minds and ponder about the winning chances of each contestant. The dancers and singers were..well! nice. It was a great place to witness an amazing music culture, though it could have been a little more sophisticated rather than extravagant as it was.
The hosts of the international beauty contest, held by the World Beauty Organization, were a delight and wonderfully kept the spectators engaged. The stage was set with proper lights and was perfect for hosting such a big event. The ramp dazzled as three by three women came posed in gorgeous attires, adorned head to toe in confidence, poise, and glamour.
The top fifteen finalists, as usual, were announced country wise, 2 each from North America, South America, and Africa, and 4 each (justified, considering the size of the continents) from Asia and Europe. One from each continent was selected to form the special Top 5 contenders who were asked random questions.
The question-answer round was a downside to the whole show. It was a hilarious moment when the translator could not translate the question correctly for Miss Italy. The questions chosen could have been more creative. Miss Puerto Rico answered the question relevantly and with confidence, without stammering, thus excelling in the final round.
The 45th Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant culminated with the announcements of awards and titles. The special awards included five titles besides the previously announced Best Body and Best in National Costume award. The runner ups were announced at the end of the special awards. Interestingly, there was a tie for the second runner up and judges’ vote was counted to announce the third and the second runners up.
Heilymar Rosario Velasquez from Puerto Rico dazzled in the $350,000 crown handed over to her by the beautiful reigning queen Miss Intercontinental 2015 Valentina Rasulova, on October 16th 2016 at the Cinnamon Hotels and Resort.
