Miss USA 2017 Kara McCullough is true- to the- heart American and she proved it as she posted a lovely message on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr. A day which is celebrated on 15th January 2018.

Martin Luther King Jr. King was the chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement. The movement was started to protest against the racial discrimination in the state law. After his assassination in 1968, the then President of the United States Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into a law in 1983. Since 2000, all the 50 states of the United States officially observe a national holiday on the account of his birthday on 15th January every year.

Miss USA 2017 Kara McCullough, like a true patriot, shared a post on her official Instagram paying her respects to the famous activist and his wife on the account of his birthday.  Representing brilliance & fostering the Emblem of courage, Kara McCullough talked about how Coretta Scott King, the wife of Martin Luther King Jr., played a pivotal role in the establishment of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in law.

Kara got emotional and thanked Dr King for the courage and strength he provided to people to fight against racial discrimination. As a person of colour herself, Kara talked about the importance of his movement in shaping up the America of today.

The official Facebook page of Miss USA posted a picture of the reigning Miss USA along with a sweet message from her - “When I visit the National Mall, I always start at the MLK memorial. Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, ‘Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’ As Miss USA, I’m standing up for young women that don’t want to be marginalized. For young women that love science and tech and want to pursue it as the career, his memorial stands as an emblem of courage for all people and the work that still needs to be done. Thank you, Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.”
