Baylee Smith is only 19 years old and represented the Pike County when she won the coveted title of Miss Alabama 2017. She was born and brought up in Tuscaloosa and attended Troy University as a sophomore majoring in the elementary education. Smith won the Miss Alamaba High School in 2014 and also was the head cheerleader at the Hillcrest High School. She describes herself as someone who is not very high maintenance and the beauty loves to teach kindergarten children.

Smith is working hard to eliminate bullying done to the pageant girls and says, “Most of the times, pageant girls have a platform, they have ambitions an goals that they want to reach so they are the most determined and giving people that you’ll meet because they are so willing to do stuff for their platform and other people. They don’t get anything in return for that.”

Alabama has been a consistently successful state for the top contestants at the Miss USA pageant. For the past seven years, Alabama has placed itself at the top 20 spot. But the state could only generate one Miss USA winner. The sources say, "Alabama is a powerhouse state in the Miss USA system.” During the competition, Smith entered into the top ten and also won the swimsuit competition which moved her to the top 5 list. Each one of them was asked a political question regarding the elections. Before Smith was finally crowned as Miss Alabama USA 2017, they were judged on their final look in the evening gowns.

Now, Baylee Smith succeeds the Miss Alabama USA 2016, Peyton Brown who also was the top five contestants in the Miss USA 2016. After winning the title, Baylee Smith says, “This sounds dramatic, but its like you become a celebrity overnight.”
