The newly crowned Miss Earth 2019 Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico stunned everyone with her remarkable performance and with her great sense of prudency as she bested eighty-six delegates and won the international crown and brought pride to her country. Even while answering the last and the final question, Pimentel was on her A-game as she brought home the prestigious crown at the finale night held on 26th October 2019 at Cove Manila in Manila, Philippines.
She beautifully portrayed her feeling and posted it on her official page by quoting, “Proudly Representing. Everything just clicks sometimes. No other words can describe all the emotions I’ve felt this last month that led up to such a life changing moment. I am honored and thankful to have become part of such a great family.”
As the newly crowned queen, Nellys will also be focusing on her advocacy during her reign which focuses on promoting small changes in daily lives to protect the Mother Earth. She talked about her advocacy at the Press Conference held in Philippines right after her coronation as she quoted, “Love and respect for the family also the love and respect for our mother earth. Promoting small changes that we can do in our daily lives. Switching to different products that we use, our routines, and also combining them with what the productions have ongoing now which is the hashtag “me and my tree” for this year, which encourages us to plant more because green equals clean, which is a bridge for better environment, better quality for air and water. But back home, I also have some projects that I want to do before coming back here.”
Nellys also gave her own ideas as to how product switching can be incorporated into the movement and she quoted, “I like eating a lot outside, so I carry my own utensil which is particularly made from bamboo products. I also carry my water tumbler so that I can refill it at home or wherever I go. These are the two things I switch and also in my beauty products, which is some biodegradable stuff.”
For Nellys, becoming Miss Earth 2019 means much more than a crown. It means gaining a bigger voice to address environmental issues in a way that create change. It means becoming the first of her country to have won this pageant and make Puerto Rico proud and the first country to own all crowns of the grand slam.
With these little steps, Nellys is moving further to reign as the most beautiful queen of Miss Earth. She is giving in all her efforts with all the interviews that she is doing with various media channels. She has also graced the newspapers of her native country who are celebrating a historic win for the nation.
