Sheyla Ravelo Perez was crowned Miss Earth Cuba 2022 during the 3rd edition of the Miss Cuba U.S. pageant directed by NBNC Nuestra Belleza Nacional Cuba, the franchise holder and responsible for sending the representative of Cuba. The competition finals took place at Seminole Theater in Homestead, Florida on 5th June 2022 where she was crowned by her successor Miss Earth Cuba 2021 Cynthia Linnet Lau.
Sheyla was born in San Antonio de Los Baños, Cuba but immigrated to the United States when she was four years old. She is a first-generation college student and attends the University of Florida, a top 5 ranked public university, where she is set to graduate with honors in December 2021.
An environmental activist, Sheyla has partnered with several organizations to promote her platform of sustainability, conservation, and social responsibility. She is a Global Cleanup Ambassador for the international environmental organization Earth Day as well as a Brand Ambassador for Queenly, an online formalwear marketplace that promotes sustainable fashion consumption. In her free time, she loves dancing, solving jigsaw puzzles, and exploring the great outdoors.
Sheyla is no stranger to pageantry as she held the title of Miss Lehigh Acres at the state pageant of Miss Florida USA 2017. She will represent Cuba along with 90 contestants from different countries at the 22nd edition of Miss Earth on 29th November 2022 at in Manila, Philippines, televised live on ABS-BSN.
Perez took to her official social media on winning Miss Earth Cuba 2022 crown and wrote, “As I fondly look back on the events of this weekend, I’m reminded of the abundance of love and support that is present in my life. I’m walking away from this weekend not only with the title of Miss Earth Cuba but friendships I know will last a lifetime.”
“This victory would not have possible without the support of all my friends and family as well as my fellow contestants. I stand before you with an incredibly grateful heart as I vow to represent nuestra isla bella with dignity and grace. Now onto Miss Earth! Forever and Always, Your Miss Earth Cuba 2022”, she added.
Miss Earth, owned by Carousel Productions, Inc. is an annual international environmental- themed beauty pageant competition promoting environmental awareness, conservation, and social responsibility. The contest is the third largest beauty pageant in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions to participate in the world finals. Miss Earth is part of the big 5 grand slam pageants ranked next to Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss World, and Miss Universe.
