Miss Grand International 2020 Top 15: Sara Winter from Canada

The 8th edition of Miss Grand International, i.e., Miss Grand International 2020, is all set to be held on 27th March 2021 in Bangkok, Thailand where stunning beauties from all over the globe will compete for the international crown. Miss Grand International 2019 Valentina Figuera will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

While this year’s batch boasts of stunning and talented beauties, there are a few ladies who have stood out amongst the rest and show the immense capability to be the winner of the 2020 edition. Sara Winter from Canada was adjudged as the first runner-up at the finale of Miss World Canada 2020 after which she has earned the opportunity to represent Canada at Miss Grand International 2020. Born in Duncan, Sara is 26-years-old and stands 177 cm tall. She attended York University as an honour roll student where she was earning her Bachelor of Science to one day become a paediatric dentist. She is also an international model signed with Barbara Coultish agency that has worked overseas in Korea when she was just 15 years old.

Sara has represented Canada at two international pageants, Super Model International 2012 held in Thailand, and Top Model of the World 2014 held in Egypt. She also competed in Miss Teen Canada 2011, where she was crowned Miss Teen Photogenic. She was the part of Miss Universe Canada 2019 where she was highly appreciated for her strong performance and was placed at the top 10. She is passionate about beauty pageants as she believes that they are a great platform for the women who aspire to change something in the society and do something for themselves.

Sara describes herself as determined, ambitious, and hardworking and feels passionate about empowering women to pursue their goals, and wants to show the diversity we have today. Her goal in life is to inspire people to never give up no matter what struggles you may be faced with, and to prove that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. She feels very strongly about volunteering and is a volunteer mentor with Kids Now organization, helping kids that are victims of cyber bullying just like her. She also volunteers with Girl Scouts Organization where she helps young girls believe in themselves and help them achieve things, they never thought they could. Sara advocates for addiction awareness in Canada as she has seen her mom struggle with substance abuse while growing up, and she knows that first hand effect of it on families and loved ones, hence forth wants to continue shedding light on this delicate topic and to bring resources for people who need it. Sara advocates for addiction awareness and speaks at elementary schools on the importance of goal setting. Sara believes everyone should have opportunities to pursue their dreams because we all deserve equality.

While pursuing her bachelor’s degree, Sara decided to take a risk and pursue golf full-time. Although a late comer to the sport, this past year she partnered with TaylorMade Canada, allowing her to grow her brand and create a clothing company called By Sara Winter, where she raises funds for various charities. As a female in a male dominated sport, she hopes to continue empowering women and increasing the inclusivity on a national scale. A frequent guest speaker on several podcasts has allowed Sara to tell her story and break down some barriers that women in sports and pageants are given. She realizes how important being a role model for young girls and youth is, and strives to make a positive impact to others. Sara’s athleticism, determination, and positive mindset, make her a unique contestant and an even more relatable role model. The diva has managed to impress everyone with her charm, confidence, and determination towards winning the title for Canada and is one of the favourites as well. She is friendly and positive towards everything in life which she considers as her unusual talent. She is grateful for all the opportunities she has received and believes that with every opportunity she has learnt something that will surely help her in the future.
