Sara advocates for addiction awareness in Canada as she has seen her mom struggle with substance abuse while growing up, and she knows that first hand affect of it on families and loved ones, hence forth wants to continue shedding light on this delicate topic and to bring resources for people who need it. Sara advocates for addiction awareness and speaks at elementary schools on the importance of goal setting. Sara believes everyone should have opportunities to pursue their dreams because we all deserve equality.

She is not new to the world of pageantry as she was the part of Miss Universe Canada 2019 where she was highly appreciated for her strong performance and was placed at the top 10. With her experience and determination, she can be a tough contender for the title of Miss Grand International 2020. She started her career as a model at the age of 15 and quickly matured and learned how much pressure women must look a certain way; she struggled to feel like she was enough. This incident drove her to enter the Miss Teen Canada 2011 competition, where she quickly fell in love with pageantry. Sara continued to represent Canada at SuperModel International 2012, Top Model of the World 2014.

While pursuing her bachelor’s degree, Sara decided to take a risk and pursue golf full-time. Although a late comer to the sport, this past year she partnered with TaylorMade Canada, allowing her to grow her brand and create a clothing company called By Sara Winter, where she raises funds for various charities. As a female in a male dominated sport, she hopes to continue empowering women and increasing the inclusivity on a national scale. A frequent guest speaker on several podcasts has allowed Sara to tell her story and break down some barriers that women in sports and pageants are given. She realizes how important being a role model for young girls and youth is, and strives to make a positive impact to others.

Sara’s athleticism, determination, and positive mindset, make her a unique contestant and an even more relatable role model. Having represented Canada internationally both in golf and in pageants, has given her the experience and confidence she needs to thrive. Sara knows she has what it takes to make Canada proud on the Miss Grand International stage.
