Melissa Bottema was crowned Miss Grand Netherlands 2022 at the finale of the national pageant held at De Patio, Claus Event Centre, Bosweg 19, Hoofddorp on Sunday, 4th June 2023. Melissa succeeds and was crowned by Miss Grand Netherlands 2022 Marit Beets.

Melissa bested 10 other contestants to win the national crown. Melissa is 23 years of age and stands 176 cm tall. She is a model and gymnastic coach who was born in Zandeweer and grew up in Winsum, Groningen.

For Bottema, one must be patient and persistent even if one meets difficulties and set-backs. She graduated in Social Work from Hanzehogeschool Groningen. Her speaking languages are Dutch and English and her hobbies are gymnastics, singing and windsurfing. Not new to the pageantry, Bottema represented the Netherlands as Miss Intercontinental Netherland 2022 at Miss Intercontinental 2022 where she placed in the Top 20.

She will represent her nation at the upcoming Miss Grand International 2023 which will be the 11th edition of Miss Grand International to be held on 25th October 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Miss Grand International 2022 Isabella Menin of Brazil will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
