But just few hours ago, Miss International Organization has announced that the pageant has been suspended until the October 2021. The decision has been made due to the sudden increase in the number of covid19 affected patients across the globe. The official spokesperson for Miss International Akemi Schimomura, stated that all the national directors of Miss International pageants across the 69 countries have received the official news.

Previously, the Miss International Organization revealed an alternative date for the pageant. The organization had announced that pageant had been moved later this year to 2nd December 2020. The letter of the alternative date had been sent to all the national directors of Miss International pageants. But since the cases have been increased in the world, the organization doesn’t want to risk it for anyone.

It is not the first time that this contest is canceled, in 1966 and after lack of interest by the host city California (Long Beach) to continue conducting the contest this was held again until April 1967 and where Mirta Teresita Massa Miss Argentina was crowned by the outgoing queen Ingrid "Fiffi" ??Finger of Germany who had been elected in August 1965 as Miss International having to date the longest reign in the history of this event.

As of today, 15 delegates from across the world have been crowned or appointed to represent their countries at Miss International 2020 stage. Last year, Sireethorn Leearamwat from Thailand was crowned as the Miss International 2019 on 12th November 2019 at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Bunkyo district, Tokyo, Japan. She is the first woman from Thailand to win Miss International, and the first Thai delegate to win one of the Big Four international beauty pageants since Bui Simon was crowned Miss Universe 1988.
