60th Miss International pageant postponed to the fall of 2022

The Miss International 2021 pageant has been cancelled amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the 60th Miss International Beauty Pageant, the next edition will be held in the fall of 2022. The organization released an official ‘Notice of Cancellation’ on their social media as they wrote, “To our valued followers and supporters, Thank you for your continued support of the Miss International Beauty Pageant. Taking into consideration the health and safety issues, as well as the ongoing global impact caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have come to a conclusion to cancel this year’s Miss International 2021 pageant, which was originally scheduled to be held this fall.”

“We would like to express our deepest regret especially to the participants from all over the world, and to all those who have been supporting our event every year. We humbly ask for your understanding in light of this unusual circumstance which is beyond our control,” they added.

Rest assured that through their slogan ‘Cheer All Women’, the organization is still committed on pursuing the goal of supporting all women, and continuing with the legacy of this beauty pageant, which is “to promote friendship and goodwill with other countries in the world” and the “realization of world peace through international exchange”.

 

 

This is the second time Miss International pageant has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2020, The Miss International organization announced that the 2020 pageant would be held on October 21, 2020 in Tokyo, Japan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan, in June 2020, Miss International organization announced that the annual 2020 competition was cancelled.

Later in January 2021, due to the 2020 Summer Olympics scheduling in Tokyo from July to August 2021, Miss International Organization president Akemi Shimomura announced that the finale coronation night of Miss International 2021 would be held November 2021 in Pacifico Yokohama. Now, on 31st August 2021, due to the rising cases caused by the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant, the organization announced that the edition will be rescheduled to the autumn of 2022.

In the meanwhile, the reigning queen, Miss International 2019 Sireethorn Leearamwat of Thailand will continue her reign for another year. Akemi Shimomura, chairperson of the International Cultural Association, said, “We sincerely hope for your continued support and cooperation. The next edition, dubbed as the 60th Miss International Beauty Pageant, is scheduled to be held in the fall of 2022. Details of which will be announced in due time.”
