The 25th edition of the Miss Russia pageant has finally kick started, and a total of 50 contestants are vying for the chance to represent Russia at the Miss Universe and Miss World pageant. The casting of Miss Russia 2017 was held in a Moscow Shopping Mall Afimall City on 18th February 2017.
The audition was judged by a panel of prominent judges which included of, StarHit magazine fashion editor Marina Sayakhova, fashion designer Anastasia Zadorina, Miss Russia 2015 and 1st Runner-up of Miss World 2015 Sofia Nikitchuk and CEO of the Miss Russia Larisa Tikhonova. On 22nd March 2017, all the shortlisted contestants came to Moscow to prepare for the pageant. A press conference was organised to introduce all the contestants to the media, on 23rd March 2017.

The event was graced by CEO of the national contest “Miss Russia” Larisa Tikhonova, Miss Russia 2016 Yana Dobrovolskaya, as well as the Executive director of the Russian Standard bank credit-card business department Rostislav Yanykin, PR director of “Rendez Vous” company Marina Bitsadze and operating director of beauty salons MONE Elena Daryashina.
“Due to the anniversary one of the most bright, colorful and solemn ceremonies in the history of the contest is expected in April.” — Larisa Tikhonov said. She also introduced the contestants who will be competing to clinch the crown.
This year “Miss Russia” is widely represented by beauties from different Russian Republics, such as Udmurtia, Bashkortostan, Sakha-Yakutia, Chuvashia, Buryatia, Kalmykia and Tatarstan. The contest includes girls of rare regions — the Sakhalin region and Syktyvkar. Also, there are several contestants from the Sverdlovsk and the Moscow regions.
Miss Russia was established in the year 1992. Ever since commencement, the pageant has been held annually except in the years 1994, 2000 and 2008, when no pageant was held. Julia Kourotchkina was the winner of the first edition of Miss Russia pageant held in 1992. She went on to represent Russia at Miss World 1992 pageant, and made an emphatic debut at Miss World by winning the Miss World 1992 title.

Traditionally Miss Russia 2017 will receive an exclusive crown of white gold decorated with diamonds and pearls, a Russian Standard Bank cash prize of 3 million rubles, a car Hyundai Solaris as well as the golden opportunity to represent Russia at the international contests “Miss World” and “Miss Universe”.
