The 25 year old from Mitchell was announced as the Miss South Dakota USA 2017 crown holder on Sunday at the event held in Brandon Valley Performing Arts Center, South Dakota.

Tessa Dee has won the Miss South Dakota crown once before during the 2013 Miss America program, but getting an opportunity to represent her state in the Miss USA beauty pageant is something that Tessa has always wanted. She has worked really hard to get the coveted title of 2017 Miss South Dakota USA and now, she is on cloud nine after winning the pageant.
The young South Dakota representative is an example of how perseverance through tough times can lead to success. Dee plans to travel and dedicate most of next year in order to prepare herself for Miss USA, at the same time polishing her professional skills for personal development. She has a master’s degree holder from the University of South Dakota.

The Miss South Dakota USA contest included three rounds- evening gown round, swim wear round, and at last an interview. Though Tessa finds that the interview round is both difficult and important, she managed to impress the judges panel by coming across “as somebody who can hold the title.”
