Julia Gama was appointed Miss Universe Brazil 2020 on 20th August 2020 and will now represent the country at Miss Universe 2020 stage. Julia’s name was revealed directly from New York by Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi via a live channel ‘U Miss Brasil’. The coronation ceremony took place without any audience and with all the necessary safety measures in mind due to the pandemic. The event was attended by Roberto Macedo, presenter, and Miss Universe Brazil 2019 Júlia Horta.
Born in Porto Alegre, Julia is 26-years-old and stands 176 cm tall who has studied up to the third year of her Chemical Engineering degree at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul but she decided to give her artistic skills a little more attention. She is not new to the pageantry as she won the title of Miss Brasil Mundo 2014 and represented the country at Miss World 2014 and was placed at the Top 11 at the end of the event finale.
Julia moved to China in 2016 and started working as a professional model and actress for the next three years and started prepping herself up for the national crown. She always aspired to represent Brazil at Miss Universe stage and when she was finally elected as the winner, she took to her social media to express her happiness and excitement for the crown, "I can't get enough of hoping to be everything I dream of. So, I followed the last 6 years: believing, fighting, risking, realizing. From girl to woman. From a chemical engineering student in Rio Grande do Sul to an international actress in China. May the fulfilment of my dream be an example of everything that we can create for our lives. May it remind us that there is no shame in having ambition. That we were made for that. We are creators, not creatures. We were born to be giants. I have it all inside me and I know you have it inside you too. Let us remember the value of work and dedication. Let us know that with integrity, persistence, and faith it is possible to accomplish anything. May we believe. Gratitude to all who supported me on my journey here. Julia hopes that her victory will sever as an encouragement to many other Brazilians and she wants to use the platform to encourage people to believe in themselves, in the power of work and dedication. Julia’s main aim would be taking onto the responsibility of the crown and start preparing herself for the finale event.
Even when the coronation night wasn’t held in the traditional way, Julia feels confident and dedicated to perform her best and stated that, “Knowing that I was chosen is something extremely special, because I know that I was chosen for who I am. It gives me a lot more confidence. I really feel very prepared to make that commitment. I don’t feel that I need to prove everything that I presented in the contest, I am everything that they evaluated and they chose me for that.” She speaks five languages fluently and she is very strong with her communication skills.
Julia will be one of the strongest contenders for the title and she has already started to prepare for the finale event and hopes to bring the crown home. She has also expressed her gratitude to everyone who has supported her through her journey and feels very excited to meet the other delegates at Miss Universe stage.
