Julia Gama Miss World Brazil 2014 attends International Leprosy Congress

Miss World “Beauty With a Purpose” is more than a project. It is a way of living and way of life, and one of the former Miss World contestants has proven it. Miss World Brazil 2014 Julia Gama who was one of the 5 recipients of the Beauty with a Purpose Award in 2014 for the inspirational work done in Brazil to help combat the threat of leprosy.

Even after 2 years, Julia is still making sure to work dedicatedly towards the cause. Julia is currently in China representing Brazil at the 19th International Leprosy Congress. The 19th edition of the International Leprosy Congress is being held from 18th September to 21st September.

Julia has been working with the Miss Mundo Brasil Organisation for several years now in their fight against leprosy. Brazil has the second highest level of leprosy cases in the world. Julia chose to represent her nation at the conference because the kind of work that the organisation is doing is invaluable. She has been sharing her experiences with international leaders and authorities this week in an effort to be able to create a global response and plan to finally eradicate leprosy on Earth.

he Miss World is one of the oldest beauty pageants amongst the Big 4 (four) international beauty pageants. The Miss World beauty pageant started in the year 1951, the idea of Miss World beauty pageant was conceptualized by late Eric Morley, the first edition of the Miss World beauty pageant was held in United Kingdom. Miss World is one of the most publicized beauty pageants alongside Miss Universe and Miss Earth pageants.
