Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2020 Kímberly Jiménez Rodríguez revealed her national costume for Miss Universe 2020 in a recent social media post where she mentioned, “I am very excited to be able to officially present my typical costume to you!” The vibrant costume ‘Goddess of Sunflowers’ is inspired by the sunflower, one of the many plants that are grown in the town hall of Constanza, in the province of La Vega, in the centre of Dominican Republic.
Kimberly also shared, “The sunflower, in addition to being my favourite plant, is a sign of the fertility of our land and the selfless commitment of Dominicans who work hard every day to offer their compatriots and the world the best of our land.”
Large quantities of plants are grown in the valleys of Constance, including roses, daisies and sunflowers. In addition, it is a privileged area of ??our country for its unique panoramic view, its climate and for having the highest mountains in the Caribbean.
The costume is designed by Axel Thomas, who said, “More than a suit it became a family project and of special people in my environment that we put our heart in every detail and this is the result of the positive energies of each one of us, thanks to all the people who always believed in me, and especially to all those who never believed that they mistrusted and doubted my ability, and my super rescue team.”
Kimberly felt honoured to bring this masterpiece to her followers as she said, “I will represent, with the same commitment as always, all Dominicans and our beautiful Quisqueya.” She added, “With this outfit I will praise the fact that in the Dominican Republic we HAVE IT ALL: the best beaches, a rich gastronomic offer, the best people and, also, a fertile land for beautiful crops and great harvests.”
Miss Universe 2020 will host the National Costume competition on 13th May 2021 with a live broadcast. Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2020 Kimberly Jiménez will represent Dominican Republic at the 69th edition of Miss Universe on 16th May 2021 in the United States. The winner will succeed Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa for the title.
