The Miss World Guatemala organization announced, on 15th September 2021, that Michelle Calderón was crowned as Miss World Guatemala 2021 in a special ceremony held recently. She succeeds Miss World Guatemala 2020 Hillary Mendoza Gamez for the title and will represent the country at the 70th Miss World contest to be held in December in Puerto Rico.
Michelle is 20-years-old and has one of the most relevant GPA's from the Legal and Social Sciences Faculty at Rafael Landivar University. She is a volleyball player, ballet dancer and currently preparing to compete in the swimming arena. She has built a project related to the Textile Export Industry of Guatemala with the one she has generated secure jobs for more than 90 single mothers since 2018.
Michelle Calderón speaks two languages, is a leader of charitable causes, and has an enormous desire to reveal the project for which she has worked in the last three years of her life together with her father. Sharing her aspirations, Calderon said, “I dream of being able to be a voice for the neediest mothers, I dream of being able to guarantee a stable source of employment and education for the Guatemalan families that need it most.” She is an altruistic young woman who wants to have the opportunity to raise the name of Guatemala.
For the previous edition of Miss World, Dulce María Ramos García represented Guatemala at Miss World 2019, after replacing Keila Sofía Rodas Castillo, and remained unplaced at the end of the event. For the 2021 edition, Michelle comes across as a strong choice to represent the country at one of the biggest beauty pageants in the world. Miss World 2021 will be the 70th edition of the Miss World pageant to be held on December 16, 2021 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica will crown her successor at the end of the event.
