The Miss World Iceland organization announced Hugrun Birta Egilsdottir as the official representative of Iceland at Miss World 2021, in a statement released yesterday. The diva succeeded former queen Kolfinna Mist Austfjörð to the title.

Hugru´n is a jiu-jitsu practitioner and hails from Gardabaer, a municipality in the capital region of the country. She is also a spokesperson at ‘Reykjavík Maternity Support Committee’, an organization that works to support women and mothers in the low-income group, by funding their education and helping them achieve their dreams.

“Words can not describe how proud I am to be your Miss World Iceland 2021. I’m even more proud of where I came from and everything that I represent; what I stand for and the love and compassion I will share with my story,” the queen shared the news on her social media.

This beauty queen is no stranger to the world of pageantry, previously she represented ‘the land of fire and ice’, i.e., Iceland at Miss Supranational 2019, where she made it to the Top 25 finalists and won the Miss Supranational Supramodel of Europe 2019 award.

She will now represent her country at the 70th Miss World pageant, which is set to be held on 16th December 2021 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica will crown her successor at the end of the event.
