Looks like beauty pageants these days come with a contract that states in bold CONTROVERSY REQUIRED... or something like that. Why? Well, go through any major national or international pageant in the past one year, and think of one pageant that didn’t end with a blunder. So, any luck? None? Well, because there isn’t any. And the recently concluded Miss America pageant was one of them too. Although this wasn’t any sort of big controversial deal, but we would still call it a blunder.

So, the finale of Miss America 2017 concluded with the crowning of Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields as the winner. Yes, we know there wasn’t any boohoo that took place during the crowning, nor any snatching of the crown moment occurred, and yes everything went on with full vigour. But, there was one oopss moment that probably you all missed. Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell swore on national television as Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields was crowned the new Miss America. No, she didn’t fume or anything, but yes the outgoing queen swore.

So what happened was that Cantrell walked over to put the "Miss America" sash on the 2017 winner, but realized she had made a mistake. "Oh sh--, it's on backwards," Cantrell said as the camera focused on the exchange of titles. The flub was caught by a Tweetarati @madisonmichel12 who posted the following video...

An emotional Shields appeared to laugh off the error as the cameras cut away to reaction from the judges and audience. Cantrell then successfully put the crown on Shields' in the right direction.

Savvy topped the result for the night and battled out 51 other beauties to clinch the title. 21 years old Savvy is a Jazz dancer and also won the talent competition on the second night of preliminaries with a jazz dance to a song from the TV show “Smash.”
