Donald Trumpcontroversial sttement lands him into trouble

Univision, a Spanish Channel, which used to air the Miss Universe and Miss USA finale, called off the contract with the Miss Universe Organisation considering the ongoing controversy about Donald Trump’s remark on Mexican Immigrants. In a vicious coil of foul statements, Donald Trump called the Mexican immigrants, criminals and rapists, which was uncalled for, especially when you are representing an organisation which allows the delegates of across the globe to compete in the contest.

Amidst the ongoing Donald Trump never-ending controversial saga, Univision made an announcement regarding this issue and said “At Univision, we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country. We will not be airing the Miss USA pageant on July 12th or working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization,”.

Donald Trump commented on the Mexican citizens and said, “Mexico is sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs and bringing crime and their rapists. And it’s people from countries other than Mexico also.”  This statement coming from the owner of the Miss Universe Organisation sparked outrage among many. Responding to Trump’s statement, Lupita Jones, former Miss Universe and director of Nuestra Belleza Mexico, called on Paula Shugart regarding the status of Mexico in Miss Universe. “I feel very offended, very hurt… When it is deemed that the integrity and the dignity of our representative is put at risk,  I will put into consideration the participation of Wendy in Miss Universe..

The derogatory comment by Trump spread like fire and Zuleyka Rivera, former Miss Universe 2006 from Puerto Rico, who was supposed to judge the Miss USA 2015 pageant, withdrew from the jury. Zuleyka announced via her official Facebook Page of her withdrawal from the Miss USA 2015 and said, “With the responsibility and firmness that has always characterized me, I am announcing that I have cancelled my participation as a juror in the Miss USA 2015 event. As a Latina, needless to say, I disagree with the statements made by Mr. Donald Trump, referring to our Mexican brothers."

After all the happenings, rumour has it that Mexican delegates will no longer be allowed to compete in the Miss Universe. If the rumours are true, we can foresee many countries backing our from the contest. Few are even assuming that this might just be Trump’s ideology to gain publicity as he runs for the US Presidential election this year. Well, if that is true, then Trump really needs to stop with all the “so called publicity”, as this will only lead to the downfall of Miss Universe pageant. And in no way will this help him win the elections either. A wrong leadership will lead to decline in the brand value for Miss Universe and that’s where the Miss World will make its way as the only dignified pageant.
