At the conclusion of the finale of Miss Dominicana Republica 2016 held on April 25’ 2016 at the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo, Sal Garcia was crowned as the winner of Miss Universo Dominicana Republica 2016 by the outgoing queen Clarissa Molina. Sal Garcia will now represent Dominican Republic at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.

At the same pageant, Santo Domingo West (Joely Rodriguez Marie Bernat) was adjudged the first runner up, while La Vega (Marlenis Carolina Peralta Mészaros) placed as second runner up.

Sal Garcia is one of the successful international models and has been modeling for renowned Dominican Fashion brands for many consecutive years. The 25 years old was also a part of multiple advertising campaigns as a brand ambassador.

The multi-talented Domincan model has recently graced the cover of ‘Oh Magazine’, possesing an impressive body, charming smile and exquisite facial features. Garcia was also featured on worldwide celebrated magazine ‘Elite Europe’.

Garcia is a self-made girl who is a Director General at Academia Actitud Model’s By Sal Gracia, Modelo at Muse Model Management, and Modelo at Elite Model Management Paris.

Initially, at the beginning of the Miss Dominicana Republica 2016 pageant,  a total of 28 contestants began their journey towards the coveted crown. The 28 stunners were then narrowed down to 12 finalists who vied for the prestigious title during the finale.

The scintillating pageant began with the 12 finalists sashaying the ramp donning striking swimsuit. The 12 finalists were selected by eminent judges, Jhoel Lopez and Ruiz Miralba.

After the eye-pleasing Swimsuit round, the 12 semifinalists paraded in evening gowns. In addition to announcing the winner and runners-up, a series of Special Awards were also awarded under the following category –

Miss Reality - Miss Sanchez Ramirez

Miss Congeniality - Miss Azua

Miss Communication - Miss San Isidro

After announcing the special award winners, the 12 semi-finalists were narrowed down to Top six (6) semi-finalists who were Joely Marie Bernat Rodríguez, Joanne Christina de Lara Ovalles, Marlenis Carolina Peralta Mészaros, Bárbara Lucía Santana Rodríguez, Rosalba "Sal" Garcías Andrickson.

Later, the top 6 semi-finalists were narrowed down to Top 5 semi-finalists who competed through the Question and Answer round. The five finalists were: Santiago (Fifth) Valverde Mao, (fourth) San Pedro de Macorix (third) La Vega (second) and Santo Domingo West (first).

Miss Dominicana Republica 2016, also known as Miss Universo Dominicana Republica 2016 and Miss Dominican Republic 2016, is a national Beauty pageant held annually in Dominican Republic to select the representative for International Pageants.
