Miss Earth Mexico : Info

Miss Earth México is the annual beauty pageant of Mexico founded in 2002 to crown the country’s representative to Miss Earth pageant. Based in Mérida, Yucatán, the pageant is organized by the National Director Paul Marsell. Miss Earth México was established in order to elect Mexico’s representative in Miss Earth and to promote Environmental awareness and protection.

Even though the pageant was formed in 2002, the first national contest was not held until 2007. Prior to that, the winners were chosen by the organization through a private selection process. The first titleholder of Miss Earth México was Libna Viruega Roldan from Distrito Federal who represented Mexico in Miss Earth 2002.

Mexico is yet to win to its first ever Miss Earth pageant. The first placement of the country was in 2008 where Abigail Romo was adjudged the second runner-up in Miss Earth 2008. From 2011, the country placed in the Top 16 or Top 8 almost every year. In 2018, Melissa Flores represented Mexico in Miss Earth 2018 and was awarded the title of Miss Earth-Fire 2018 making it the first win elemental title win for her country.

2019

Miss Earth México 2019 will host its grand coronation night on 26th May 2019 in Jardines de México in the city of Jojutla, Morelos, Mexico.

2018

Miss Earth México 2018 was the 17th edition of the national pageant which was held on 3rd June 2018 in Colima, Mexico. Melissa Flores of Michoacán was crowned Miss Earth Mexico 2018 while Lorena González of Querétaro was adjudged Miss Earth México – Air 2018, Fernanda Contreras of Jalisco was Miss Earth Mexico – Water 2018. Alejandra Pérez of Sinaloa was adjudged Miss Earth Mexico – Fire 2018 but was later substituted by Paola Tanguma of Nuevo Leon.

2017

Miss Earth Mexico 2017 was the 16th edition of the national pageant. The pageant was to be held on 10th September 2017 but due to 8.4 degree earthquake in Chiapas, the event was cancelled. On 8th September 2017, at a press conference, National Director Paul Marsell announced the winners of the four crowns. Karen Bustos of San Luis Potosi was awarded the title of Miss Earth Mexico 2017 while Mara Orduño of Hidalgo won Miss Earth Mexico –Air 2017, Brenda Portelinha of Estado de Mexico won Miss Earth Mexico-Water 2017 and Diana García of Baja California won Miss Earth Mexico – Fire 2017.

2016

The 15th edition of Miss Earth Mexico, i.e Miss Earth Mexico 2016 was held on 27th August 2016 in Queretaro, Mexico. Itzel Astudillo of Chiapas was crowned Miss Earth Mexico 2016 while Yolanda Vega won Miss Earth Mexico –Air 2016, Verónica Salas of Estado de Mexico won Miss Earth Mexico – Water 2016 and Andrea Torres of Sonora won Miss Earth Mexico – Fire 2016.

2015

The 14th edition of Miss Earth Mexico was held on 19th September 2015 in Quintana Roo, Mexico where Gladys Flores of Puebla was crowned Miss Earth Mexico 2015 by the outgoing Miss Earth Mexico 2014 Yareli Carillo. Laura Mojica of Oaxaca won Miss Earth Mexico – Air 2015, Martha Suárez of Veracruz won Miss Earth Mexico – Water 2015 and Mónica Hernández of Yucatan won Miss Earth Mexico – Fire 2015.
