Miss Universe Puerto Rico is the national beauty pageant of Puerto Rico. The pageant selects the most gorgeous candidate as the winner who will go on to represent the country at the Miss Universe beauty pageant.

Miss Puerto Rico pageant started in 1950 and the winner used to go to the mIss Universe pageant as an envoy of the country. The pageant was held then under the direction of Anna Santisteban. Later, in year 1996 the organization lost the Miss Universe franchise. For two years Telemundo organized the event to select the Miss Universe delegate under the name of Miss Universe Puerto Rico. The name hasn’t changed since, though from 1999 Univision Puerto Rico (then TeleOnce) obtained the franchise and renamed it "Miss Puerto Rico Universe.” After that, from 2003 to 2009 Magali Febles organized the beauty pageant. Desireé Lowry and Luisito Vigoreau obtained the franchise in 2009 and again renamed the pageant as "Miss Universe Puerto Rico."

2017

Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2017 is Danyeshka Hernandez. She will now represent Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2017 pageant.

2016

Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016 was Brenda Azaria Jiménez Hernández. Previously Kristhielee Caride was crowned during the coronation gala of the 61st edition of the Miss Universe Puerto Rico beauty pageant, but was later dethroned due to her dismissive behaviour. Brenda Jimenez was titled as the new Miss Puerto Rico 2016 on March 17’ 2016 at a ceremony held in San Juan.
