Miss Ukraine is a national Beauty pageant held in Ukraine to select Ukraine’s representative to Miss World Beauty Pageant. The purpose of the “Miss Ukraine” Pageant has always been, and remains, popularization and growth of Ukraine’s positive image in the world. The Miss Ukraine pageant works with the desire to provide a platform to young beautiful Ukrainian girls where they can showcase their beauty and talent to the rest of the world.
The key provision of Miss Ukraine pageant is to give equal opportunity to all girls so that everyone can participate in the competition regardless of their colour, race, religion, or moral principles. The winner of Miss Ukraine represents her country at the Miss World. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age), a runner-up is sent. Traditionally, the court of Miss Ukraine includes a Winner, Runners-up and People's Choice Award winner.
The Organizing Committee of the contest "Miss Ukraine" runs under the motto "Natural beauty – beauty of the future”, under the directorship of Oleh Bodnarchuk.
The first national pageant winner of Miss Ukraine was an eighteen-year-old student, Olha Ovcharenko, who was also a semi-finalist in "Miss USSR" beauty pageant. She was also the first runner-up in 1990 at Miss Kiev beauty pageant.
2016
The finale of the 26th contest "Miss Ukraine" took place in the festive atmosphere of the International Center for Culture and Arts (The October Palace) and Oleksandra Kucherenko was crowned as Miss Ukraine 2016.
