At the culmination of the mesmerizing pageant which took place at the New Sudan Palace Hotel along Airport Drive in Juba on 8th October 2016, Akuany Ayuen has been crowned as Miss South Sudan 2016.
The 20 year old beauty queen succeeds Ajaa Kiir Monchol Deng as Miss South Sudan 2016. Akuany will now represent South Sudan at Miss World 2016 pageant. Akuany Ayuen is not new to the world of pageantry as she has also won the title of Miss South Sudan Kenya in 2013 year. At present, the Kenyan based beauty queen is working as a professional model.
Akuany was chosen by an eminent panel of judges as the favourite among several other contestants who took part at the pageant. Her charming, ace, and bold catwalk revealed it all when she hit the stage amid applause and among hundreds of South Sudan and Kenyans who encouraged her during her performance.
After all the other pageants like Miss Malaika discontinued from the country for unknown reasons. Miss World South Sudan is the most the prestigious and the only surviving beauty pageant in the country.
The 66th edition of Miss World pageant will be held on 18 December 2016 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, National Harbor in Maryland, United States. At the end of the pageant the reigning queen, Mireia Lalaguna of Spain will crown her successor. This will be the second time that the United States will host the pageant.
This tall, confident and experienced model is now all set to carry South Sudan’s flag high in this December.
