Marisa Paige Butler, representing the United States of America, is definitely a contestant to look out for in the ongoing Miss World 2018. Having already secured a seat for herself in the Top 30 of Miss World 2018 by winning the Sports Challenge and becoming the third delegate to do so, she has shown everyone that she is in the competition to win it and nothing less.
The gorgeous 24-year-old beauty is an Investment Executive Assistant by profession. She completed a Degree in Economics with a Business Minor and now aspires to run her own business and study for PhD. Aside from her academic and athletic success, Marisa is also a classically trained vocalist, model, and a conservationist. Her most noteworthy conservation effort was during her time as a volunteer for NOAA’s Corporative Shark Tagging Program. She now helps restore wildlife habitats in San Diego for the endangered California Least Terns. She is of French, English, Scottish, Irish and Native American (Mic Mac) heritage.
Marisa’s Beauty with a Purpose project is “Igniting the Volunteer Spirit” which focuses on fostering a concept of ownership and responsibility to your local community. One of the negative effects of social media on this generation is a sense of detachment and lack of empathy for other people and their community. She hopes to combat that by creating a more social approach to community service that will encourage others to get to know their community, its needs, and prioritize time to give back. Her Service Saturday event has started a chain reaction where her friend group has created a community centred on giving back to the community, and have even begun to invite their friends along too.
Marisa’s biggest role model in life is Emma Watson as she believes that the actor perfectly exemplifies what it means to be a modern day renaissance woman. The gorgeous diva enjoys rock climbing, fishing and hiking and has even climbed Mount Vesuvius. In her spare time, she plays lacrosse and soccer and she has also played the drum and the snare drum at school.
The USA has had a decent track record in the Miss World pageant so far. Last year, Clarissa Bowers represented the USA in Miss World 2017 and also placed in the Top 40 with her commendable performance. USA won its first ever Miss World crown in 1973 when Marjorie Wallace from the USA was crowned Miss World. Then in 1990, Gina Tolleson was crowned Miss World and exactly two decades later in 2010 Alexandria Mills brought home the Miss World crown. There is no doubt that Marisa could win the fourth crown for her nation as well.
