Australia, the new Emerging powerhouse of Beauty Pageants

04 Feb 2016 | Angelopedia

If we look at the recent year’s scenario of beauty pageants, we can say that the currently dominating countries have to be Philippines, Venezuela and Colombia. However, one country that is crawling its way towards becoming the new powerhouse of beauty is Australia. Australia is the first nation to have won all three the then major pageants in a year and the year being 1972. The journey of Aussie delegates at Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth (last year) and Miss Grand International has been nothing short of spectacular.

Australia’s journey of fineness began in the year 2012, when Renae Ayris bagged the title of third runner-up at the Miss Universe and Jessica Kahawaty was titled second runner-up at Miss World. Ever since then, there has been no turning back for the country. Australia has produced Four Runners up and three TOP 10 finalists in last ten years at Miss Universe, achieved five straight placements and three continental titles at Miss World.

Australia, the new Emerging powerhouse of Beauty Pageants

Let’s take a look at this year’s major international pageants, and Australia’s intensifying performance graph at these pageants. New South Wales beauty, Monika Radulovic finished as one of the Top 5 finalists at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant. Tess Alexander won third straight Miss World Oceania title, Dayanna Grageda and Claire Parker both finished as first runners up at Miss Earth and Miss Grand International respectively in 2015.

The Australian beauties have not only shown improvement in their performance with each passing year, but also have been seen supporting each other in every step. The beauty queens have been an inspiration and also a support system for each other. Both former Miss Grand Australia’s (Who were also Runners up at MGI during their edition) were seen cheering Claire in Thailand. Similarly, former Miss World Oceania Courtney Thorpe played an instrumental role in preparation and promotion of Tess for Miss World 2015.

All these improvements and enhancement indicates the united Australian spirit to celebrate femininity and their efforts towards marking a spot as a strong sash in beauty pageants. So, will Australia be successful in claiming the position of being called as the next Powerhouse? What do you think?
