Popular belief is beauty pageants are a means to an end for many – Myth or Real?

The popular belief says that the beauty pageants happening all over the world are just a way to flaunt gorgeous girls wearing the most extravagant gowns and swimwear, while the audience get to ogle at all these beautiful looking women and enjoy a spectacular show. After the show is over, the world gets another famous personality in the name of a future actor. In the meanwhile other competing contestants of that year, who are obviously gorgeous, make a name for themselves in showbiz. So, to round this whole topic, these girls are here to make a career in glitzy world of glamour is what people usually believe.

Now the point is whether it’s true or just a myth. While this topic is largely arguable where a large section of audience believe that this is utterly true, others like us think that let’s not degrade the whole section of beauty pageants like this.

There’s no denying that girls do make the most of this opportunity and make a name for themselves in careers that are in public eye, but doesn’t this very choice give them the power to serve the society at a large level. Because they are in public eye, that’s why they have the power to reach out to the people anywhere to spread the important awareness topics and make good things happen in the world. Of course anyone would listen to a Miss World who is also famous after her reigning period is over.

Is it really fair to take away the whole credit from these beauties who have contributed their bit to the society whether small or large?

Let’s also keep the latest trends in consideration here. In pageants like Miss Earth, which is also a major international pageant, the contestants this year whether they lost or won, have been actively taking part in major social activities, whether it is Miss Earth India 2017 Shaan Suhas Kumar sharing her experiences with young leaders of the world at Asia Pacific Future Leader Conference held in Malaysia, Miss Earth Japan 2017 Yasuyo Saito participating in United Nations Framework Convention to spread the awareness about Climate change, Miss Earth USA 2017 Andrea Gibau feeding needy children in Nicaragua  for the World Missions Outreach, Miss Earth Mexico 2017 Karen Bustos spreading environmental awareness to students of a college or Miss Earth Chile 2017 Sofia Manzur supporting Teletón Chile - an annual televised event raising funds to help children with developmental disabilities treated at Instituto de Rehabilitación Infantil.

It’s just not fair to take away all the good doings of these lovely human souls just because a part of the society has made a misperception about them. These women who participate in beauty pageants are talented, highly educated young women, whether it’s Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco who is a scientist or Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar who is also a doctor in making, they have already achieved so much at such young ages. People are lowering their identity to just a beautiful face, is simply not acceptable, no matter what. Let’s all appreciate these kind-hearted endowed young women who inspire so many youngsters in so many ways.
