The Miss World pageant has always stood out from all the Big 4 pageants because of its one strong factor that is different from all other pageants – the Beauty with a purpose Project. The fact that the Beauty with a Purpose project is not just limited to the international winner, and in fact the national winners too have to fulfil their bit, is what makes this pageant all the more beautiful.

Miss World 2016 finale was held on 18th December 2016 and Stephanie Del Valle of Perto Rico was crowned as the winner. The rest of the delegates of 2016 are back to their country and are actively involved with their projects and activities. One such beauty is Miss World Guatemala 2016 Melanie Espina Luna. The beauty queen recently visited a children’s home in Jalapa, Guatemala, wherein she donated grains and food to the children, as part of her beauty with a purpose project.

23 year old Melanie Luna is a student of law, and for her humility, responsibility and hard work are the most important factors in life. The reason why her project is related to children is because as a child, Melanie was bullied during her school days, as she was overweight. That’s the reason she chose to stand for children who suffer from any type of discrimination.

Another beauty queen who is keeping up with her duties and responsibilities as the reigning queen is Miss World Australia Medaline Cowe. Madeline, who has also been working for the benefit of children and their education, dropped off arboriginal text books to the Murray Upper Primary School for the start of the school year in Australia, as part of her beauty with a purpose project.

According to Cowe, pageants aren’t all about looks and talent, charity too is a huge component of the competition. Cowe enthuses that over a billion dollars has been raised for children around the world. When Cowe was crowned Miss World Australia2016, she shared details about her project and the idea behind it and said, “In Australia we work with Variety, all the contestants have to have a side project called Beauty with Purpose, so we take that over with us, it’s one of the components we get judged on. We’ve always focused on indigenous communities and indigenous kids, so this year we were able to supply a bus to Elcho Island in the Northern Territory, and we were also able to give a learning program to the primary school that I went to, so that was really special, Murray Upper State School, about an hour south of Tully, it’s one of the best aspects of being Miss World Australia, I love it.”

It’s amazing to see the girls take the Beauty with a Purpose project with such sincerity and work towards it with all their dedication and soul.
