Binibining Pilipinas 2020 recently hosted a tour in line with the celebration of the National Arts Month, where the candidates paid a visit at the Gateway Gallery Museum, Gateway Tower, yesterday at 3pm. The delegates were given a tour of the museum by curator Mr. Gari Apolonio, who provided the candidates a quick lecture on the exhibited artworks. The museum visit provided the Binibining Pilipinas candidates a quick blast from the past courtesy of the artworks lined up at the museum's SiningSaysay: Philippine History in Art exhibit.

The arts of the Philippines reflect a society with diverse cultural influences and traditions. During the first half of the 20th century, American influence made the Philippines one of the most Westernized nations in Southeast Asia. The cultural movements of Europe and the United States profoundly influenced Filipino artists, even after independence in 1946. While drawing on Western forms, however, the works of Filipino painters, writers, and musicians are imbued with distinctly Philippine themes. By expressing the cultural richness of the archipelago in all its diversity, Filipino artists have helped to shape a sense of national identity and also, many Filipino artists have incorporated indigenous folk motifs into modern forms.

The exhibit, which features 30 large-scale paintings from pre-historic Philippines to the contemporary period, is a joint project of the Araneta City and the University of the Philippines. Through the museum tour, Binibining Pilipinas aims to promote art appreciation while teaching history to the candidates. The divas were highly delighted when they saw the works of art in their city and loved to see the way that Philippines has embarked in its history with art and its culture.

These tours and visits to all over the important places in the country helps the candidates to understand about their culturally rich country and also to convey them about what they are going to hold. With this, they will definitely learn a lot about their artistic country and also, in order for them to represent the whole country at such a great level as in any international pageant, the Binibining Pilipinas organization, as always, are making sure that they understands the value of it and to keep it close to them.

Binibining Pilipinas 2020, the 57th edition of Binibining Pilipinas, will be held in April at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines. The pageant will award four titles to Philippine representatives to four major international beauty pageants which are Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2020, Binibining Pilipinas International 2020, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2020, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2020 and Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2020.
