Angelica Lopez of Palawan was crowned Binibining Pilipinas International 2023 at the finale of Binibining Pilipinas 2023 held on 28th May 2023 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Since then, Angelica has been preparing to represent Philippines at Miss International 2024.
Born in 2000, Angelica is currently a psychology major at Palawan State University. The stunning beauty did not have an easy life since the start; Angelica grew up in a very simple family that had to make ends meet. This was one of the major reasons why Angelica joined pageants at an early age to help with the household expenses.
Her humble upbringing and experience in dealing with hunger and poverty formed her advocacy. Lopez spearheads feeding programs and gift-giving activities for less-fortunate children, as part of her youth organization back home. “When I was around eight years old I made a promise to myself that whenever I had the opportunity to help, I will do so since I understand what it's like to have nothing”, she quoted.
Not new to the pageantry, Lopez first joined Miss Universe Philippines 2022 where she placed in the Top 16 with her stellar performance before joining Binibining Pilipinas 2023 and winning the national crown.
Months after her Top 16 finish at Miss Universe Philippines 2022, Angelica got her international pageantry stint as she represented her country at Miss Asia Global 2022 which was held in Malaysia and she won the first runner-up position for her country.
For Angelica, her role model is her mother who passed away four years ago. She also spoke about her mother at the Q/A round of Binibining Pilipinas. “I stand here tonight because it is my mother that instilled me the values and the morals that I’m using to be the woman that I am now today. A woman who has the strength, courage, and tenacity. The strength to decide for herself what she wants really works hard to achieve it”, she shared.
Miss International 2024 will be the 62nd edition of the international pageant to be held in Japan where Andrea Rubio of Venezuela Miss International 2023 will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
