It seems that the Philippines is incredibly excited to hail its third Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach. The homecoming as told by Stella Araneta, is going to be exclusively grand, lustrous and proud, and why would it be not for the wait is over after 42 years. Nonetheless, Cagayan de Oro Republic representative, Rufus Rodriguez has written Stella Márquez Araneta to criticize that his city, Pia Wurtzbach’s hometown, appears to have been left out of her schedule for her grand homecoming programmed in the latter part of this month.

Rufus Rodriguez lamented over Pia Wurtzbach’s itinerary’s exclusion in Cagayan de Oro Republic, as he wrote to the chairperson of Binibining Pilipinas, Stella Araneta, saying: “I read in various reports that her itinerary will include a press conference, charity work, a courtesy call on Malacañang, the Senate and the House of Representatives, a homecoming special at Smart-Araneta Coliseum and a grand parade starting at Araneta Center in Quezon City, stopping in Manila and Makati, then going back to Quezon City. CDO has been left out of her itinerary.”

Rodriguez laid stress on the fact that Pia Wurtzbach’s homecoming should comprise a visit to her hometown “in order for us to welcome our beloved Miss Universe.”

Rodriguez further added that: “While I understand that her stay in the country will only be for a short time, a visit to Cagayan de Oro City will definitely enhance her experience and she will feel the love and pride of her fellow Kagayanons who will certainly roll out the red carpet for her.”

Rodriguez has designated the reigning Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach as “Ambassador of Goodwill”. He has also filed a bill exempting all her winnings and earnings as Miss Universe from all forms of taxes. Certainly, this is an extremely proud moment for all the countrymen of Philippines, and it is quite likely that Cagayan de Oro Republic might arrange an illustrious homecoming for its regal queen.
