Demi survived a violent carjacking in 2017 but emerged unscathed after she used a self-defence technique that she learnt in a course. Propelled by this experience, she initiated an unbreakable campaign which focuses to render education and empowerment to the women, both mentally and physically, in the event of an attack.

She spoke at the fourth annual Forbes Woman Africa Leading Women Summit, hosted in association with the IDC that took place on International Women’s Day i.e. 8th March Friday at Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre. She joined by the likes of international celebrity and philanthropist, Naomi Campbell, as well as leading businesswomen, Basani Maluleke, CEO of African Bank and Nozipho Sithole, CEO at Transnet Port Terminals, among many others.
